MAMMALIAN HISTOLOGY

REVIEWS: "The slides...are superb. Color, clarity, detail, and subject relevance of the
photo-micrographs are perfect. Because of their detail...these slides would be most useful at the
college level...and...in advanced placement high school biology classes." Library Journal.

"...excellent photomicrographs...primarily for advanced biology students. The printed
sheets, by the way, are outstanding in the information they provide." Media Review.

"...gives a rather complete coverage of the materials needed for an undergraduate
histology course, and most of the material required by medical students." Choice.

BASIC TISSUE TYPES Order #611.............$42.50

Low to medium power photomicrographs of the four tissue types: epithelial (9
slides), connective (6 slides), muscle (3 slides) and nerve (2 slides). Presents a
comprehensive overview of human tissue types. Suitable for both general and advanced
students. 2O slides and guide.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
BLOOD AND LYMPH SYSTEM Order #612.............$42.50
Clearly identifies and compares circulating elements of the blood and lymph and
illustrates their sites of origin with the hemopoietic tissues. 2O slides and guide.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

NERVOUS SYSTEM Order #613.............$42.50

Cell components of the tissue specialized to receive and transmit impulses
throughout the body are presented: cell bodies, cytoplasmic inclusions, myelin
coverings, nerve endings and noncellular substances associated with this system. 2O
slides and guide.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
SENSORY SYSTEM Order #614.............$42.50
The structural arrangement and functional correlations of a variety of sensory
tissues, including the eye and ear. 2O slides and guide.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

SKELETOMUSCULAR SYSTEM Order #615.............$42.50

Intricate association of skeletal muscle, tendons, motor nerve endings and
bone. Two forms of osteogenesis are presented and discussed. 2O slides and guide.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
REPRODUCTIVE SYSTEM Order #616.............$42.50
Male and female tissues, including sections of the forming gametes within the
gonads, ducts of the ovaries and testes, auxiliary glands associated with the systems
and the organs of copulation. 2O slides and guide.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

ENDOCRINE SYSTEM Order #617...........$42.50

The pituitary, thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal and pineal glands are presented,
along with the endocrine tissue of the pancreas, ovary and testes, using several different
levels of magnification. 2O slides and guide.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
DIGESTIVE SYSTEM: MOUTH TO ESOPHAGUS Order #618..........$42.50
Presents a general plan of the digestive tract and covers the histological
structure of the oral cavity and associated structures down to the point of junction of the
esophagus with the stomach. 2O slides and guide.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

DIGESTIVE SYSTEM: STOMACH, INTESTINE & MAJOR GLANDS Order #619.........$42.50

The major regions of the stomach and intestine are presented and the thickness
of various layers, presence or absence of lymphatic tissue, and types and position of
glands in each region are emphasized. 2O slides and guide.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
RESPIRATORY, CIRCULATORY AND URINARY SYSTEMS Order #620........$42.50
The lungs, heart and kidneys and the ducts, vessels or tubules associated with
them. Provides a unifying view of the interaction of these three systems. 2O slides and
guide.
BLOOD: ITS COMPOSITION AND FUNCTION Slides order #SS-0500S........$29.95
The basics of hematology create a groundwork for more thorough discussions
by the teacher. 10 frames, cassette and guide. (Filmstrip order SS-0500F.....$15.00.)
CONTENT SAMPLE: 5. The large dark-stained cell near the center of this frame is
called a myoblast. Myoblast cells give rise to granular leukocytes by producing daughter cells
that further differentiate to either eosinophils, basophils or neutrophils.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

CYTOLOGY AND HISTOLOGY Slides order #SS-0035S......$125.00

The cell's organelles and their functions are highlighted through histological
photomicrographs to show location of the various structures in different tissues. Each
photomicrograph is identified in relation to tissue type, location and function. These are
carefully selected color slides of nervous, epithelial, muscular, connective and other
tissues taken with both light and electron microscopes. An excellent collection for
premedical and clinical technology students, to be referred to again and again! 75 frames
and guide. Slides, video or filmstrip. (Video order SS-0035V........$79.95; filmstrip
order SS-OO35F.........$49.95.)

CONTENT SAMPLE: 11. All of the structures enumerated serve functions within cells.
Cells in turn function within tissues and are often highly modified for these functions. There are
several basic tissue types in higher animals, one is epithelia. On the basis of shape, there are
three kinds of epithelia. Cuboidal epithelium is composed of cells of approximately the same size
that appear to be cube-shaped. These, as some other epithelia, may be undulipodiated (ciliated).
The undulipodia protrude from the free surface and may function, for example, in moving
substances along the membrane. These tissues appear mostly in glands and ducts. Seen here is
a section of human kidney with its cuboidal epithelia.
